Pillow Flowers

“When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all.”

A Bridge Over Troubled Water

Simon & Garfunkel

Many of us.

Are simply.

Weary.

Doesn’t matter which lever you pulled.

Doesn’t matter what your bumper sticker says.

Nor does the signs on your lawn, your hat, or your tee shirt.

Doesn’t matter.

Forget that crap.

In times like these all that matters is those you love.

Those you hold.

Those you comfort.

Those whose tears you wipe away…

Our ability to care is a gift given to us.

As is love.

It is caring, it is loving that makes us humans.

March if you will.

Scream if you will.

Truth if you will.

Lie if you will.

But none of what you do is in a vacuum.

They watch, they notice, they learn…those who love you.

Step back, take a moment.

Comfort.

Hold.

Those who love you.

Make those you love feel special, make them feel safe in times like these.

Doesn’t take much to do so.

I love you,” helps in good times or bad.

Calm, comforts.

You have a right to your opinions and your actions.

You do not have a right to impose your rights and actions on others.

Especially those you love.

They watch too.

Lately, every night I leave a badly drawn flower on my wife’s pillow.

Pillow Flowers, with words of comfort.

Here’s a secret, it comforts me too.

Make time for comfort.

Doesn’t have to be drawings, leave your loved one/s a short note, a card, anything that shows them you care, you love.

In the end you have to vote for…

…the ones that call you Mom or Dad…

…the ones that call you Grandma or Grandpa…

…the ones you hold in your arms…

…and the ones that hold you in their arms.

We all are weary.

We all feel small.

Tears are shed.

Be there to wipe those tears away.
